Global SIM ChangesThe FreedomPop Global SIM was originally scheduled to be discontinued on January 3, 2018 for those users who explicitly received e-mail notification from FreedomPop that service would be terminated. Many users were unaffected and were only highly encouraged to upgrade to the LTE SIM. FreedomPop has now sent out an e-mail alert indicating that Global SIM users that choose to continue their current service will be charged $4.99/Month starting in their February billing cycles. If you wish to upgrade the Global SIM on your current account and keep your existing phone number along with already downgraded plans/service and credit balance, then you can upgrade for $0.99 without incurring any additional charges. The LTE SIM will replace the Global SIM on your account after you receive the SIM and confirm online. Plan Downgrade Now $15.00FreedomPop has raised the downgrade fee to $15.00 from $10.00 if you attempt to downgrade the plan directly. However, you can still downgrade Top-Up for $5.00 in account balance and avoid any additional fees for downgrading. See our guide for instructions on how to disable Top-Up and downgrade to the Free Plan. Account DormancyAccounts that have been inactive for at least thirty days may automatically be made dormant and can be made active again by logging into your FreedomPop Account. Accounts are deemed inactive if there isn't any data usage during a billing cycle. This isn't a new policy change but is being clarified by FreedomPop. Accounts that have been inactive for at least sixty days will also lose the phone number associated with the account. New phone numbers can always be selected if you log into your account. Data Overage ServiceFreedomPop is introducing a new service (TBA) for Data Overages which increases the base monthly data allowance by 10% and allows users to disable Top-Up without a credit balance. This will most likely not be worthwhile for any users on the Free Plan, but it's worth mentioning. This doesn't affect their recent policy change regarding overage forgiveness. A window will pop up indicating that you must add $5.00 in account credit to disable the feature. Confirm by hitting “ADD CREDIT” and the page will refresh with Top-Up disabled. The feature will never need to disabled again in the future. If you haven't already, then check-out our tutorial on how to Downgrade Services and Downgrade Plan!
